MBS Program at KSC

Master of Business Studies (MBS) is a two year (four semester) program of Faculty of Management, TU. This is one of the most sought degrees in Nepal and every year large number of students gets enrolled in this program. The courses structure of the MBS has been divided into core courses, specialization and thesis writing for giving students comprehensive knowledge of the subject matter from different perspectives. Moreover, the course also aims to make students up to date with the modern practices and changes in the field of business studies. The course is designed in order to develop skills in students for being able to take higher level managerial position in private and public sectors. The MBS programs requires the students to study a total of 1000 marks.

Objectives of MBS Program

The objective of the MBS program is to enable the students to work as competent managers and to meet the demand of higher level managers in organizations, particularly in the functional areas of management Upon graduation, a student should be able to function as a manager in business, Industry, government and nongovernmental sector, within and outside the country, in areas like accounting, marketing, finance and general management. The MBS program specifically aims to:

  • Equip the students with required conceptual knowledge of business and management
  • Prepare managers in the functional areas of management.
  • Develop knowledge and skill of business environment in national and global perspective.
  • Encourage entrepreneurial capabilities in students to make them effective change agents in the Nepalese society.
  • Develop research capability in the students.

Eligibility

The student applying for admission to MBS course must have successfully completed the BBS program or a Bachelor degree on any discipline from TU or an equivalent.

Admission Test

The Faculty of Management (FOM) shall conduct a Central Management Admission Test (CMAT) for the MBS level. Students eligible for MBS program must sit in the CMAT in order to qualify to apply for admission to the campuses. The FOM shall issue a score-sheet to each student appearing in the CMAT. The test carries a full marks of 100 and it must be completed within 90 minutes.

Masters of Business Studies is a two years graduate level program in Business and Management.

Students must submit a CMAT Request Form to the FOM. Students must submit their application for admission along with the score-sheet. Colleges will further process to take their admission based on the merit list based on the CMAT score. The admission shall be strictly on a competitive basis. The applicants must enclose along with application form attested copies of: certificates/testimonials of all examinations passed; equivalence, transfer and character certificates, wherever applicable and two passport size photographs. Candidates selected for admission will have to produce at the time of admission original certificates/testimonials of all examination passed.

MBS SYLLABUS - TU

Masters of Business Studies is a two years graduate level program in Business and Management. The duration of this course is 24 months four semesters. Total credit hours of study with dissertation is 66 credit hours in a semester wise system of Master of Business Studies program.
